Canton-Galva posted their first win of the season in impressive fashion, 60-14 over Fairfield. The win evens the Eagles district record at 1-1. After opening the season 2-0 and scoring 46 points in both contests, the Falcons, under new coach Chuck Bisbee, have allowed 60 points in back-to-back losses and have fallen to 0-2 in district play. Things won't get easier this week as Fairfield continues district play against undefeated Pretty Prairie.

Head-to-head, the east and west have won one game a piece.

8M-II

A much improved Lakeside-Downs team gave the Beloit St. John's-Tipton Blujays all they could handle in a 38-26 Blujay win. Former St. John's coach Curt Christians faced his old team for the first time and a noticeably improved Knight squad was competitive, but St. John's Josh Wessling continues to dismantle opposing defenses posting his second consecutive 190 yard rushing night.

The Mustangs blew the game open after half-time. The trio of Kody Workman, Eric Nitsch and Caleb Hirsch were too much for the Leopards out of the Mustang backfield and the shorter, smaller offensive line proved more physical than the Leopards interior D.

Axtell recovered from a brutal opening schedule to beat Pike Valley 46-6. RB Taylor Jesse rushed for 227 yards and five touchdowns on 20 carries for an Eagle offense that racked up 332 yards on the ground.
