Down 30-20 with just over four minutes to play, Olathe South scored 14 points in three minutes and ten seconds to shock Shawnee Mission East 34-30. Nick Sands caught a 57-yard touchdown pass from Tanner Dutton to pull South within 30-27. The Falcon defense then held, giving the ball back to the offense with 2:14 left. Marquis Addison capped the comeback with a 10-yard touchdown catch from Dutton to improve the Falcons to 4-2 entering district play.

Topeka High raced out to a 21-0 lead, and shutdown Shawnee Heights on the T-birds last two possessions to hold on for a 35-34 win. While the two combined for 63 points in the first three quarters, the fourth quarter only produced six points on a Donnie Lockhart 35-yard touchdown run. The extra point was no good, however, leaving Heights down a point. Riley Williams led the Trojans on the ground with 146 yards and three touchdowns.
Demarcus Robinson rushed for over 250 yards for the second straight game as Wichita Northwest got a big road win at Garden City 42-19. Robinson also recovered a fumble for a score on defense as the Grizzlies improved to 4-2.
Jonathan Swanepoel’s 1-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter was the difference as Shawnee Mission South edged Shawnee Mission North 20-17. North had taken the lead in the fourth quarter on a 27-yard field goal by Kyle Goodburm. The win propels the Raiders to 3-3 entering district play, while the Indians have lost four straight after a 2-0 start.

Mill Valley scored 27 points in the first quarter in beating Atchison 37-14. Dylan Floyd led the Jaguars with 178 yards and two touchdowns on the ground. The Redmen were without Quarterback Charlie Schneider who broke his thumb in the Colgan game.
Hays remained unbeaten by shocking Dodge City 28-17. The key for the Indians was turning Dodge City away inside the red zone. The Red Demons tallied only 10 points from six trips inside the Hays’ 20. Josh Balman led the Indians with 93 yards rushing on 10 carries. He also caught four passes for 67 yards and a score. Dodge City back Jace Banner carried 19 times for 102 yards and caught four passes for 75 yards in defeat. Hays can capture the WAC championship by beat Great Bend at home this week.
It’s not often that a team rushes for over 400 yards and loses by double digits, but that’s exactly what happened in Pratt’s 47-35 loss to Newton on Friday night. In fact, the Greenbacks rushed for 473 yards behind 209 from Jake Siroky and 113 from Skylar Angood, but four turnovers (two fumbles and two interceptions) led to their demise. Each week there seems to be another SEK League game coming down to the last play. This week it was Columbus building a 28-8 halftime lead, then needing overtime to edge Independence 40-34. The Bulldogs scored as time expired and converted the two-point conversion to send the game into OT. In overtime, Indy got the ball first but was slowed by a penalty, and a loss on first down. The Bulldogs would then help Columbus out by jumping offsides, and the Titans cashed in with the winning score. Titan QB Damion Tinnen threw for 285 yards and three scores in the win.

Caleb Gifford rushed for 150 yards, Zach Dunlap added 147, and Bubba Beltz 117, as the Eagles torched the Longhorn defense for 465 yards on the ground. Hugoton now enters a tough district which will feature road games at Pratt and Ulysses.
With Wellington trailing 7-2 in the third quarter and driving, Rose Hill stopped the Crusaders on 4th and four after a questionable pass interference no-call. The Rockets would change the game two plays later as Derrick Decker, filling in at quarterback for the injured Tyler Shirley, found Dillon Rapp for a 51-yard touchdown pass. That 14-point swing was enough to propel the Rockets to a 21-15 win. Decker threw for 184 yards and three touchdowns, but was intercepted two times.
