Colson plans rare dual-sport collegiate run at KWU

Cheney students honored with "Spirit of Sport" award

Maddy Amsink and Julie Bachard, members of the Cheney High School cross country team, have been selected to receive the KSHSAA "Spirit of Sport" award for their selfless act at the regional meet in 2018. The award recognizes the values inherent in high school sports beyond winning and losing.

Southeast of Saline grad to highlight Globetrotters trip to Salina

The Harlem Globetrotters will return to Salina and this time they will have a hometown hero on the team – Hannah “Mighty” Mortimer. As the 17th female player in the team’s 92-year history, Mortimer has wowed fans near and far with her ball handling skills, energetic playing style and hustle.

Cobbins leading undefeated Piper on and off the court

Piper High School’s Ryan Cobbins gives back to her community in more ways than just basketball. She is among the top players in the state of Kansas. The four-year starter has eclipsed 1,000 points in her career and has earned All-State honors her freshman, sophomore, and junior seasons.
