Sophomore third baseman Nolan Freund has become Cloud County Community College's all-time hit king. Earlier this month, Freund became the school's all-time career hits leader, and on Friday in the opening round of the NJCAA Region 6 Plains District Baseball Tournament, Freund broke the program's single-season hit record with his 95th hit of 2025.

Freund, a native of Kingman, Kansas and a returning All-KJCC infielder, is enjoying another fine season for No. 21 Cloud County, guiding the T-Birds to a 44-15 overall record, which marks the program's highest win total in 36 seasons.

Through 59 games this year, Freund has a .454 batting average with 95 hits, 23 doubles, nine home runs and 71 runs batted in.

Earlier this month, Freund broke former T-Bird Demitri Shakotko's record of 153 career hits. Shakotko was a two-year player for Cloud County and currently plays baseball at Southeast Missouri State University.

Up next, Cloud County will face Kansas City Kansas Community College in the double-elimination bracket portion of the NJCAA Region 6 Plains District Baseball Tournament at 10 am Tuesday, May 13 at Dean Evans Stadium in Salina, KS.

Freund has signed to play baseball at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock next year.
