The Bonner Springs wrestling program has a rich tradition of success with well over 100 state placers and 23 individual champions in program history. The Braves are gearing up to make another postseason run and senior 220 pounder Caleb Willis will lead the way and go down as one of the program’s all-time greats.

Currently ranked third at 220 behind Newton senior Wyatt Hendrickson and St. James Academy junior Cade Lautt, Willis is a three-time state qualifier and a two-time state finalist. In 2017 he was a state champion and in ’18 he finished runner-up with a 39-2 overall record.

Last fall we welcomed just a sampling of the state’s top athletes to a feature photo shoot at Rolling Hills Zoo west of Salina. The Zoo and Wildlife Museum made a stunning backdrop for the shoot. These athletes are fiercely competitive and display an almost “Animal Instinct” in the sport they love. Check out their photos, by Bree McReynolds-Baetz, in this gallery.

Find their features, and a look at the other top girls players featured in Kansas Pregame's new Winter Sports Preview, here.

A basketball buzzer-beater is one of the most thrilling sequences in all of sport and we wanted to go straight to the players to find out what all goes into sealing a win with a final shot.

Check out our Q&A with four game winners from this week along with videos of their game winning shots:

If you are the mother or father of a high school athlete here in Kansas, this message is primarily for you.

When you attend an athletic event that involves your son or daughter, cheer to your heart’s content, enjoy the camaraderie that high school sports offer and have fun. But when it comes to verbally criticizing game officials or coaches, cool it.
