Chanute wins 4A State

SALINA, KS — Over 200 wrestlers from 52 different schools arrived in Salina this weekend for the KSHSAA 4A Wrestling Championships. This year also marked the first KSHSAA sanctioned girls championship tournament in the state.

Number one ranked Chanute entered the tournament as the favorite qualifying a staggering 12 wrestlers. Nine other teams managed to qualify seven or more wrestlers.

The state of Kansas crowned wrestling champions Feb. 27-29. The action started Thursday with the first ever girls KSHSAA All-Class State Championship in Salina. The boys continued the action Friday and Saturday with classes at separate sites across the state. Find tournament schedules, the final KWCA rankings of the season and links to Track Wrestling's results pages below for each classification:

Kansas' 1A schools are divided geographically into four areas/groups. Each group will have four regional tournaments with the same number of schools insofar as possible. There are 108 schools participating so there will be 4 regionals of 27 teams. Each regional will have 6 or 7 schools assigned.

The top 2 teams from each regional tournament will advance to their area sub-state tournament and be placed in opposite brackets.

Osborne continues progress with Buster basketball

GARDEN CITY – Unlike former St. John-Hudson basketball standout Dean Wade, Mason Osborne didn’t have Division I schools knocking on his door during the 2018-19 recruiting season.

Wade, a 6-9 post/forward for the Tigers, led his high school team to state championships in 2013 (1A-I), 2014 and 2015 (2A) in playing a key role in the school’s state-record 63-game winning streak.
